Hosting

Still there when you get back.

Ask for a canyon, shut the laptop, go out. The world keeps running without you, and so does Cog. Come back and the canyon is cut, the waterfall is running, and your mates are already down at the bottom of it.

The lighthouse they built, still standing at -384, -324. Drag it round. The lighthouse they built, still standing at -384, -324.

Nothing to install

Your friends join with the game they already own

Cog lives on the server, so nobody needs anything on their end. There is no mod to hunt down and no version to match. Send your friends the address, they add it to their server list, and they are standing next to you.

What it can run

It is a real server. Run what you like on it.

A Cubelings world is a proper Minecraft server, not a sandbox with one approved shape. Pick what it runs the way you would pick it anywhere else — and if what you want is a modpack, name it and the version.

Cog builds through the server and joins as an ordinary player, so a modpack world is hosted like any other. What Cog can do with the mods themselves — build from blocks a mod adds, work a machine it introduces — is the part we are building next, and we would rather say so here than let you find out later.

Nothing to configure

No port forwarding, no router, nothing to configure

Nobody has to log into a router or work out what a port is. The world is properly hosted, so it is up whether or not your home internet is, and it does not fall over because the person hosting it went to dinner.

Always on

Always on, 24/7 — the world runs when you are not logged in

Close the lid and the world carries on. Your builds are there tomorrow, your town is there next week, and Cog still knows where your house is and what you asked them for last time.

Your own server

Your world is yours alone

Every world runs on its own server. Nobody else's world shares a save with yours, and what happens in one world cannot reach into another. Your blocks, your inventory, your town, your rules.

Everything it does

Everything that comes with your world

One world, always on, with everything a family actually needs to run it — and none of the parts you would normally have to go and set up yourself.

Your world is safe

  • Backed up around the clock

Your world is saved on a schedule, so nobody has to remember to do it. A bad afternoon is something you undo, not something you live with.

  • Roll back to any day

Pick a moment and put the world back to it. Usually that is the evening before somebody flooded the town.

  • The save is yours

Download the whole world whenever you like and open it in single player, or take it anywhere else. No export fee, no strange format — the same files every Minecraft server writes.

Bring the world you already have

  • Upload it and play

The server you are on now, or the single-player world your kid has been building since Christmas. Upload it and it is running, everything exactly where you left it.

  • Mods come with it

Name the modpack or upload the mods, and they arrive with the world. Nothing comes up full of holes where the mod blocks used to be.

  • Cog knows your mods

Cog asks your server what it has instead of guessing, so a modded world is one they can build in, mine in and craft in from the moment they arrive. No plugin for your particular mod, no waiting for us to add support.

You decide who gets in

  • Private unless you say otherwise

Name the people who can join and nobody else can connect. Open it up when you want a bigger night. One switch.

  • Or just a password

For a group rather than a list: hand out the address and a password, instead of typing in usernames one at a time.

  • Parent controls

Who can join, and what Cog will and will not agree to build.

Try things without breaking anything

  • Copy your world

Take a copy into a second server and wreck it. Real terrain, real builds, none of it the world your friends are standing in.

  • Keep what worked

When the game you were testing is right, move it across to the world that matters. No copying files by hand, no two worlds to keep in step.

Everything installed, in one place

  • See what is running

Every pack on your world, what it does, and which ones Cog wrote. A server nobody can explain is a server nobody trusts.

  • Switch anything off

A game you have gone off stops running, and comes back if you change your mind.

  • Add your own

A pack you found or made yourself, installed the same way and listed beside the rest.

A proper server underneath

  • Any modpack you like

Name a pack from CurseForge or Modrinth and the version you want. Your world is built on it.

  • Your version, pinned

Vanilla, Paper, Fabric, Forge or NeoForge, held at the version you chose. Nothing updates underneath your builds because a new release came out.

  • More than one world

A build server and a survival server under one account, and one bill.

  • Hosting on its own

Everything above with nobody in the world but the people you invite. Cheaper, and Cog can join later without moving anything.

Works with what you have

Cog works on your server, not just ours

Vanilla, Paper, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and the modpack your group has been playing for two years. Cog turns up, works out what your server has, and builds with it.

Without Cog, if you like

Some people just want the server

Everything on this page is true whether or not there is an AI in the world: your own server, always on, whitelist, scheduled backups, your save downloadable whenever you want it, and a modpack if you want one. If that is all you are after, take it on its own and pay less for it.

You can add Cog later without moving worlds, and take them away again without losing anything they built. The builds are blocks in your world; they do not go home with them.

Questions

Minecraft server hosting questions, answered

Is this AI Minecraft server hosting?

Yes, but not in the way the phrase is usually used. Several hosts now advertise AI assistance and mean a chatbot in the billing panel that helps you configure the server. Cog is an AI agent inside the game itself: it stands in the world, builds what you describe, mines alongside you and writes new games into the world while you are playing in it.

How much RAM does my Minecraft server need?

You do not choose. Every plan is sized by how many people play, not by gigabytes, and the world is given what it needs to run the builds and games on it. Most hosting makes you guess at RAM up front and then upgrade when it stutters; there is nothing here to guess at.

Is the server on 24/7?

Yes. It is always on, whether or not anybody is playing. That is the point of hosting it rather than running it on a laptop — Cog can be halfway through a build when you go to bed and finished with it when you get up.

Are backups automatic?

Yes. The world is backed up on a schedule without anybody asking, any backup can be restored, and the whole world can be downloaded at any time. It is your world; if you leave, you take it with you.

Do my friends need to install a mod?

No. Cog runs on the server, not on anyone’s computer, so your friends join with an ordinary, unmodified copy of the game. They add your server the way they would add any other.

Do I need to set up port forwarding or a router?

No. The world runs on a hosted server, so there is nothing to configure at home and no router settings to touch.

What happens when I close my laptop?

The world keeps running. It is not on your machine, so turning your computer off does not turn the world off. Cog can be mid-build when you go, and finished when you come back.

Can I keep my world private?

Yes. Run it whitelist-only and it accepts nobody except the players you have named.

Can the AI agent play survival with us?

Yes, by the same rules you do. Ask Cog to follow you, hold the base while you go exploring, or go and turn iron ore into armour, and they gather and craft the materials rather than conjuring them.

Can I run a modpack?

Yes. Name a modpack on CurseForge or Modrinth and the version you want, and your world is built on it — with Cog standing in it, able to build with everything the pack added.

Does Cog work on a modded world?

Yes, and properly. Cog asks your server what your mods added the moment they join, so they can name those blocks, mine them, carry them and build with them — and craft the mod recipes they have never seen, by asking the server for them. This works without any support for your particular mod and without anything installed on your server.

Can I copy my world to test something first?

Yes. Copy your world into a second server and wreck it — real terrain, real builds. When the game you were testing is right, move it across to the world your friends are on. No copying files by hand.

Can I bring a world I already have?

Yes. Upload the save — from the server you are on now, or the single-player world you have been building since Christmas — and it comes up running with everything where you left it. If it was built on a modpack, the pack comes with it.

Can I download my world?

Yes. It is your save, in the same region files any Minecraft server writes — open it in single player or take it somewhere else entirely.

Can I have the hosting without Cog?

Yes. Some people want a server that stays up and nothing else. It is the same hosting — your own world, always on, whitelist, backups, downloadable — with nobody in it but the people you invite. It costs less, and you can add Cog later without moving worlds.

Can I change the version later?

Yes, and it is pinned until you do. A world does not get quietly updated underneath your builds because a new release came out.

Which game do I need?

Minecraft Java Edition. Hytale is next — it entered Early Access in January 2026 and was built for exactly this kind of thing.

What happens if a build goes wrong?

Cog tells you, because they measure their own work. Creative-mode builds can be undone, and worlds are backed up on a schedule. See Verification and Safety for the detail.
